Brazilian authorities have suspended 937 social media accounts between January 2025 and June 2026 for promoting unlicensed betting operators. The enforcement actions targeted profiles across Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram.
Of the suspended accounts, 803 were linked to illegal betting platforms, while 134 belonged to creators advertising licensed operators in violation of promotional standards. These violations included missing advertisement labels, absent risk warnings, and noncompliance with consumer protection requirements. During the same period, regulators removed 243 unauthorized betting applications from Google Play and the Apple Store.
Financial Penalties and Operator Oversight
Authorities launched 102 investigations involving 48 licensed betting companies. Total fines issued so far exceed $780,000. The largest penalty reached $450,000, levied against Blaze for running YouTube advertisements that featured underage viewers. These enforcement measures follow earlier regulatory updates in Brazil, where penalties for advertising unlicensed bookmakers were increased to a maximum of 20% of an operator's annual turnover.
